Word order – slovosled

V angličtine je dôležité, aby každá veta mala podmet (osobu) a prísudok (sloveso). Výnimkou sú len vety v rozkazovacom spôsobe, kedy podmet vo vete nepoužívame. Napr:Let´s go.Don´t do it!Come on.

Predmet zvyčajne prichádza za sloveso a vyskytujú sa spolu:

Ako si môžeme všimnúť v príklade miesto (to a party) stojí vo vete pred časom (last night):


We went to a party last nightNIE We went last night to a party.


Na miesto sa v tomto prípade pýtame Where? A na čas sa môžeme pýtať rôznymi spôsobmi:When? How long? How often?
